Registration information you must provide to become an endorsed installer
1. Your Australian Business Number (ABN)
You will need to have your Australian Business Number (ABN) or the ABN of your employer ready to enter into the Scheme’s registration website. You can choose which business and/or trading names associated with the ABN you want to use for the purposes of the Scheme.
The business and/or trading name you select will be published on the Digital Ready website once you are endorsed.
The business name associated with the ABN you provide must also appear on your insurance Certificate of Currency or policy document as the insured entity or person.
If your ABN is not currently linked to the business name or person shown on your insurance certificate, please call the Australian Business Register (ABR) on 13 28 66 and ask if they can add the trading name under which your antenna installation business operates to your ABN details listed on their website.
2. Getting the right photo
The photo you provide will be used for your endorsement badge. Your photo must:
• be a passport sized photo (45-50mm high x 35 – 40 mm wide);
• show your head and shoulders close up against a plain light coloured background;
• show you facing the camera front on; and
• not show you wearing sunglasses, hat or anything which obstructs your face.
The photo must be uploaded to the Scheme’s registration website in .jpg, .gif or .png format. To avoid delays with your registration, it’s important that your photo looks something like this:

Passport photos can be taken at a number of places, including Australia Post, local pharmacies and photo developing stores. If you choose to take the photo yourself using a digital camera, please ensure it meets the guidelines listed above.
For more information about suitable photos please click the link below titled ‘Acceptable photos’. If you are unable to provide your photo electronically, please mail it with your details to:

Your photo ID
You must also provide a copy of your driver’s licence or passport as identification. This must be uploaded to the Scheme’s registration website in .jpg, .gif or .pdf format. Please ensure that the scanned copy you upload is clear enough to identify you.
3. Proof of public liability insurance
Your business must be properly insured to carry out antenna installations. The insurance Certificate of Currency or policy document must show all of the following:
- the policy should be in your name or the name of the business that employs you;
- the words ‘antenna installation’ should be listed on the document as a core or related business activity;
- public liability cover must be at or over $5 million; and
- the date of expiry must show that the insurance is current.
The business name associated with the ABN you provided must also appear on your insurance Certificate of Currency or policy document as the insured entity or person.
If your ABN is not currently linked to the business name or person shown on your insurance certificate, please call the Australian Business Register (ABR) on 13 28 66 and ask if they can add the trading name under which your antenna installation business operates to your ABN details listed on their website.
Do not submit tax invoices, receipts or invitations for insurance renewal. These are not proof of a current insurance policy.
Documents must be uploaded to the Scheme’s registration website in .pdf, .jpg or .gif format.
An example of an acceptable Certificate of Currency, with the four requirements highlighted and numbered, is shown below:

To ensure any endorsement you have attained remains valid you must update your insurance details and upload a copy of the Certificate of Currency or insurance policy document to the Scheme’s registration website before your current insurance policy expires.
If you are an endorsed antenna installer and do not update your insurance details before your policy expires, your endorsement will be suspended and you will be removed from the endorsed antenna installer listings until you have updated your insurance details, uploaded the required documentation and they have been approved.
4. Digital signal meter
To become endorsed, you must have a digital signal meter which meets the requirements of the Scheme.
This meter must measure signal strength, bit error ratio (BER) and modulation error ratio (MER).
You will need to enter the brand, model and serial number of your digital signal meter into the Scheme’s registration website. On some models the serial number appears on the screen at start up.
A digital signal meter that does not measure both BER and MER does not meet the requirements of the Scheme.
This requirement is the result of consultations and advice from a range of industry bodies and technical experts which support the position that to properly assess the level/quality of reception at the dwelling, antenna installers need to use an accurate digital signal meter capable of measuring:
- signal level
- bit error ratio (BER)
- modulation error ratio (MER)
5. Referee details
To be accepted into the Scheme, you must nominate an independent industry professional who can vouch for your industry experience and, in particular, that you have at least 12 months experience installing antennas and equipment for digital television reception.*
You’ll need to provide the referee’s name, company name, phone number and email address so we can contact them, and you should let them know we will contact them.
* If you have completed nationally recognised training through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and can provide an statement of attainment listing the required, specific units of competency from Certificates II and III in Telecommunications Digital Reception Technology, you must have six months experience installing antennas.
